Condition Notes: These shoes have some degree of wear but plenty of life left. Lugs are fully in tact, softer foam areas show abrasion. Mesh overlay on upper of the left shoe has two small snags. Both shoes have some outsole paint rubbed off in the navy blue areas and minor abrasion. No noteworthy compression of soles. Insoles show wear but the foam is fine. See photos.
The Hoka Challenger ATR 5 is a go-anywhere trainer that feels as comfortable on a neighborhood pavement loop as it does on a soft forest path. It blends Hoka’s plush, responsive cushioning with a flexible, grippy outsole so each stride feels smooth and confident whether you’re logging easy miles, exploring mixed-surface routes, or tackling light trails. The breathable engineered mesh upper wraps the foot securely while a roomier toe box lets toes splay naturally, and subtle reinforcements protect against trail debris without weighing the shoe down. With a moderate 5 mm drop and a lively early-stage Meta-Rocker, the Challenger ATR 5 encourages a relaxed, efficient gait—perfect for runners who want one reliable pair for training days, long runs, and weekend adventures off the beaten path.
